From left to right: Magic, Sadie, Lola and Rosie
Seastar Kennel began with Rosie. Rosie is a lovely example of the breed - proven in show & field. I decided to breed Rosie to keep a puppy and my search ended with Sue Kish's excellent field dog - Bud. "The Rosebuds" litter produced my Sadie, who is an exceptional Toller in show and field, and truly a once-in-a-lifetime companion.
Rosie & Sadie stole the hearts of my family and close friends who said they needed a Toller too! So I bred Rosie to Rascal, which resulted in "The Little Rascals". Of those four pups, Lola went to my sister Laurie & her Canadian husband, Lundy; Zeus went to my brother John's family; and Winston lives in our summer beach community with my dear friends the Johnsons. Seastar grew into a family affair.
Sadie's first litter, "The Lucky Seven" produced my resident male, Magic. He is a strong field and show dog, as well as proven young stud. My sister wanted another Toller, so we bred Lola to Christine Comfort's Reid, and we now have Gracie. So the story unfolds.
With each new litter our goal is constant - Seastar Kennel strives to be the "Home of Award Winning Tollers". This means that a loving family environment is key to our program, as well as developing each Toller to their highest potential. That could mean the best family pet or the 1st Westminster BOS winner. Seastar's goal is to breed selectively to produce beautiful Tollers (structure & personality) with solid retrieving ability.
